Nenana River Trail

The Tsenesdghaas Na’, Denali’s newest wayside and trailhead, takes you on an adventure through the forest with scenic views of the Nenana River. The Nenana River corridor extends southward from the Park Road entrance to milepost 231 on the Parks Highway, bounded to the west by the Parks Highway and to the east by the Nenana River. The first 0.75 miles (1.2 km) of the trail is 3-5 feet wide, with a compacted gravel surface that ends at an overlook of the Nenana River canyon. Beyond the canyon overlook, the trail becomes narrower with steeper grades and uneven surfaces as it winds deeper into the landscape. The trail terminates on a high bluff overlooking the confluence of the Nenana River with the Yanert River. This trail is a photographer’s dream with picturesque views of the Nenana River! The wayside offers a perfect photo memento as you pose with the Denali National Park sign.

Trail description: 30% maximum grade, 1-5 ft wide, compacted gravel, soil and rock surface with roots and sections of boardwalk.
